“The selection of tracks I made for this first elWatusi playlist is mainly influenced by music I like to play during salsa parties and events. I always look for very danceable music, may it be fast, slow, instrumental, it must have swing so that dancers (and myself) enjoy it as much as possible!”

Hervé has been in contact with latin music and salsa since he was born. His father, as a record producer and friend of many musicians, allowed him to discover this music from the inside by being close to people such as Eddie Palmieri, Tito Puente, Mario Rivera during recording sessions, concerts or simply spending time with them on vacation. Before leaving Switzerland for France, Hervé was already a DJ, during the early years of house music.

In France, he founded the number one salsa DJs team, the PapasDJs, renowned throughout Europe for quality of work. He worked as music consultant for several dance companies, helping them select the right music for choreographies and musicals (“off-Broadway shows”).

Hervé also set up a few events. He was master of ceremonies and DJ of 5 editions of the world salsa congress in Paris, played in congresses and events in Japan, Brazil and over Europe and also organized concerts bringing Eddie Palmieri, El Gran Combo De Puerto Rico and Papo Lucca & La Sonora Ponceña to Switzerland.

Living in Brazil since 2008, he is sharing his passion with Brazilians. Hervé has been invited to play salsa and latin music during the Brazilian reality show “Big Brother Brazil (BBB)” on TV Globo in January 2009, broadcasting live on prime-time to 100+ million of Brazilians. He created with his friend DJ Floro a new salsa DJs team, “La Vieja Guardia DJs”, and organizes weekly and monthly parties in Rio de Janeiro.

We welcome DJ Herve to the elWatusi family of the World’s Best DJs!
